Employability Support
We deliver our Employability services collaboratively as part of the GECCo consortium.
Glasgow Empowering Community Cooperative (GECCo) was formed in 2016 and is a co-operative of Development Trusts across Glasgow whose ambition is to draw together its significant community networks in the North, South, West and East of the city to bring a fresh approach to addressing key city challenges.
As Development Trusts, each of the members are rooted in the local communities they serve. While we remain focused on local delivery, GECCo enables us to work collectively on city-wide projects, tenders, and initiatives that require a broader scope and unified approach.

In 2025, GECCo received funding to initiate a distinctive ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) pilot programme primarily aimed at assisting Asylum Seekers and Refugees. This initiative provided comprehensive support, including practical-focused English classes, confidence-building activities, and cultural orientation, as well as employment pathways leading to work, volunteering, and education.
Fifty participants engaged in the pilot, setting the foundation for a sustainable ESOL programme designed to facilitate integration and success for New Scots.
