EMPOWERING OUR COMMUNITY

OUR MISSION

Connect Community Trust is committed to fostering social inclusion, supporting personal development, and strengthening local networks. We provide accessible services, training, and opportunities that empower individuals and families, enhance well-being, and drive positive change in our community.

OUR VISION

To create a thriving, resilient, inclusive, and empowered community where individuals have the resources, opportunities, and confidence to build a better future together.

OUR SERVICES

Employability Support

We offer robust employability training programmes aimed at equipping individuals with the skills necessary to succeed in the modern job market. Our tailored workshops and practical sessions cover essential topics such as resume writing, interview preparation, and personal branding. By focusing on both hard and soft skills, we enhance participants’ confidence and readiness for employment. With a strong emphasis on industry-relevant training, we aim to connect our participants with potential employers, ensuring they have the best chance to thrive in their careers.

WELFARE RIGHTS SUPPORT

We believe that every individual should have access to the support and information necessary to understand their welfare rights. Our dedicated programme provides guidance and advocacy to help individuals navigate the welfare system and access the benefits they are entitled to. Our knowledgeable staff offers personalised support, ensuring community members are informed about their rights and available resources. By fostering financial security and independence, we aim to alleviate the challenges faced by individuals and families within our community.

DIGITAL INCLUSION

Our digital inclusion initiative is designed to bridge the technology gap in our community. We provide access to digital training that fosters computer literacy and online skills, enabling individuals to navigate the digital landscape confidently. Our digital drop-in sessions offer personalised support, helping individuals develop essential tech skills that are increasingly demanded by employers. By ensuring everyone has the opportunity to become digitally literate, we are empowering our community to participate fully in the digital economy.

Economic Impact of Welfare Rights

Economic Impact of Welfare Rights

Our welfare rights advisors, Elaine and Stuart, continue to deliver high quality welfare and benefits advice and services to the community. The latest financial year has witnessed a large migration for many of our clients from legacy benefits to Universal Credit, as well as threats to the Winter Fuel Payment. This has driven a larger than normal volume of clients, and the corresponding casework, being directed towards our welfare rights team. As shown in the table they have managed to maximise client’s income by £3,248,191.04 in this time. Welfare rights services are offered weekly via Blairtummock, Provanhall and Gardeen HA’s, as well as weekly drop-in every Wednesday at The Connie’s.

  • A VOLUNTEER'S JOURNEY

"I started volunteering at the Connie in 2019 and did that for a year and a half before being offered a job at Connect Community Trust. The Connie has built my confidence and brought me to where I am today. I wasn't always confident speaking to people. I’ve gained a lot of skills and met amazing people through my experiences, allowing me to learn and grow as an individual. The Connie has been great for my grandkids, especially my youngest, who ended up becoming a youth worker in the organisation. The Connie is my life, and I’m proud to play a part in our community and this organisation."
